Interview:
Q1: Where are you from?
Web City, MO
Q2: Where is your family from? If they are from outside the state what brought them here?
Zacatecas, Mexico. We have an aunt (on my dad’s side) that lives in Carthage, MO. They were also able to easily find jobs in Missouri.
Q3: Are you an observer or a talker?
Depends on the topic of conversation, and who I’m with. Most of the time, I’m a talker because it helps me to externally process things first, so then I can internalize my thoughts and feelings.
Q4: What was your favorite childhood television program?
Ooooo, so hard. I grew up with El Chavo and Teen Titans.
Q5: Are you a morning or night person?
I used to be a night owl, now I’m an abuelita. I need to be in bed by 10pm, so I can wake up early and be productive. I also really enjoy a quiet, slow morning.
Q6: Are you a collector of anything?
Yes! I’m a collector of thoughts and words. When I come across a quote, I put it in my pocket so I can come back to it later.
Q7: What is your favorite food?
MAMI’S TACOS ALL THE WAY!
Q8: What do you do for fun?
I sit and think. I like to think A LOT about the relationship between things and the way that communication affects this.
Q9: List 3 of your best personality traits:
Honest, authentic, sincere
Q10: Write in 3-5 sentences a short narrative of a time where you learned something valuable that you’ve applied in your college years.
Mami, at the end of our weekly phone conversations, would and continues to advise me that I ask God for "paz y conocimiento." In every situation, regardless of whether or not it's time of thanksgiving or of supplication, she prays this over me.
It's become almost like my mantra. It keeps me in check and aware, while also reminding me of mami.
